brother.....(spoken out loud, on the exhale, exhaustively) regardless of your previous mail, i am quite compelled to respond to this first. like a rat to cheese on the pan of a trap, or a fish to a worm on shiny sharp hook... my thoughts about world hunger? ug!!! ....not that i have no compassion, but the reality of a "feel good" action, like trying to feed the hungry and starving with money or a mouse click, is without conscious or conscience...think think think....here are the numbers as i have them: i have the figure of 32,000 people a day, each and every day, starving in the world. that seems like a large number, but let's multiply that by 365 for the number of days in a year. you should get 11,680,000. which is a whole lot of dead folks from starvation each and every year. this cannot be denied. now take that figure and divide it by 6,000,000,000. (six billion)...that is roughly the population of people in the whole world, (which is growing daily, as well). you will get .0195, which as a percentage is a pretty small percent, (re: trivial), of actual people in the world dying of starvation. yes, i realize that it is a rationalization for my lack of action to help mankind. but i figure that you forewarded this to me based upon my last mail description of how i am viewing humanity these days. in an effort to abort a long diatribe, suffice it to say that in a round about way from my anti-recycling stance, i have managed to distill my beliefs to the notion that there is simply too much emphasis placed upon the value of individual life. indeed, the great socialist of death will find us all. sooner or later. and to comprise the capitalism of living for some notion of "heavenly" credit in an afterlife is just childishly silly. although, i am sitting on the fence between hating and loving any notion of religiousness or hocus pocus ritual that, as Marx noted, opiates the masses. keeping people happy listenting to LITE ROCK to the point that they do not concern my daily affairs is good. it is when i am forced to hear the LITE ROCK that the daily affairs of the most mediocore of mankind cross my path and i am filled with contempt and thus am less apt to give a fuck about less than two tenths of a percent of the population of the earth.....
